Boston Hospital Care Packages

on

Whenever a loved one has a hospital stay — whether planned or unplanned — we are often left wondering what we can do to help.

Hospitals are for healing, but most of us would agree that our stays there are not particularly comfortable. And it’s not solely because of the discomfort from illness or injury. Hospitals are sterile — the floors are chilly, the roommates are noisy, the air is dry, the tissues are scratchy, and the soap scent reminds us of the restroom at the airport.

Boston Hospital Care Package

Here For You is excited to announce that we’re launching care package delivery to Boston-based hospitals. Our packages include items to make hospital stays more comfortable for both the patient and their caregiver(s).

A care package from "Here For You" displayed against a neutral background. The package includes a brown cardboard box with an intricate floral design and a label that reads "here for you." Surrounding the box are various comforting items: a soft gray GRIPJOY socks, a satin pillowcase, a wool-felting kit, a floral-patterned sleep mask, a 10-foot charging cable, dry shampoo, lip balm, earplugs, and bar of soap. The items are thoughtfully arranged to convey warmth and self-care.

We have a wide variety of curated options — from packages for children to those who have an extended hospital stay. Each package type has an essentials and full version to cover a variety of budgets.

What's Included

Boxes include items for comfort, convenience and items to help pass the time. Nearly all of our boxes include a 10ft universal charger for Android/iOS devices and wall adaptor. Other contents include warm, grippy socks, beeswax lip balm, silicone ear plugs, satin pillow cases, body care, and allergen-free snacks.

Each box includes a personalized message from you.

A white notecard with typed black text sits on a wooden surface, accompanied by several smooth, natural stones in shades of gray and brown. The note is addressed to "Jasmine" and expresses care and support, stating: *"Jasmine, We wanted to send you something to make your stay a little more comfortable. We are thinking about you constantly and can’t wait until you’re home again. Lots of love, Frances and Ricky"* The setting is warm and simple, with the natural textures of the wood and stones adding to the thoughtful, personal feel of the message.

Personalized messages are available typed on cardstock (shown) or
handwritten on a greeting card of your choice.

How it Works

You select which box you’d like to send and where it’s going.

We deliver to Boston’s 8 major hospitals (Brigham and Women’s campuses in Fenway/Kenmore and Jamaica Plain, Boston Children’s, Beth Israel Deaconess, MGH, Tufts, and Boston Medical Center) and Newton-Wellesley hospital in Newton, MA. All of the Boston-based hospital deliveries will be made by cargo bike.

On the left, a close-up of hands adjusting a transparent rain cover on a cargo bike, with raindrops visible on the cover and a blurred autumnal background. On the right, a sleek black Urban Arrow cargo bike is displayed against a muted green background with three white heart illustrations floating above it, giving a sense of admiration or love for the bike. The cargo bike has a large front compartment designed for carrying passengers or cargo.

Our cargo bike is outfitted for delivery no matter the weather.

Delivery is included in the package price for hospitals within our delivery zone.
Some hospitals will have an additional $15 charge due to the distance from our office.

We will notify you by email the day of your delivery. If the patient has checked out, we’ll be in touch about forwarding the box to their home or rehabilitation center.

Shifting Hospital Gift Culture

Here For you’s origin story is one of changing the way we show up for one another during life’s most difficult moment. What began as an encouragment towards practical gifting following the death of a loved one, has grown to a commitment to showing up and supporting people authentically when they need it most.

Historically, we’ve only been able to send flowers or balloons to hospital rooms, neither of which are particularly useful when folks are confined to the walls of a hospital. We’re looking forward to bridging a much needed gap in our Boston community.
